My lap top is losing its groove because i have too many photos uploaded on it... PLUS, they're in RAW format so even though i only have a few hundred photos, my lap top has lost its groove. anyway.. i find the remedy to be to buy an external hard drive.. but my knowledge in that area severely lacks.. so please recommend...
1. what i must look for... like.. does the computer memory or other info matter when looking into an EHD?
2. what brand is reputable? LaCie perhaps?
thankssss!!!

I would recommend looking into Western Digital. They have decent EHD with decent prices. Make sure you buy a EHD with a fan. Otherwise, the EHD might have a shorter lifespan and you might lose all your data. Also, when you're buying an EHD, the features on your computer are irrelevant. Since the hard drive is 'external', the important thing is finding a good EHD with the features you need. I would check ebay or price grabber for an EHD. Make sure to read user reviews of the EHD before buying it. One last thing, even if you buy a EHD, make sure you back up your files on CD or DVD once every 2-3 months....you never know when that thing is going to die!

EHDs have internal fans. I guess the fan isn't that important. Just make sure you buy a EHD that doesn't overheat easily. After you buy it, make sure you don't leave it on top of a place (like your PC) where it'll heat up. Leave it in a cool shaded region. Also, you don't have to back-up your files if you don't want, but that's just a precaution I would take in the event of a disaster :(
