I had to watch this music video twice to understand it and I'm still not sure if I understand it. So basically, the main character in the music video was a boxer that was trained by the old man who has trained many champions. During one of his big fights, he took a bribe and purposely lost the fight. When his trainer found out about it, he disowned him and the boxer left. Some time later the boxer comes back and tries to make amends with his old trainer and begins training one of the town kids to gain some of his dignity back. Eventually his old trainer begins to warm up to him again, but the main character, who is in love with the girl in the music video, decides to leave town again because he's going blind or eventually going to die (as a result of the beating he took when he took the bribe and lost the fight). The ironic part about the music video is the fact that the young guy the main character trains, was a kid that almost died 10 years ago after being hit by a car. I feel like there's more to this last part with the kid but that's the part I'm not understanding. Does anyone else have anything to add or any other way to interpret this?
