King Sejong was the 4th king of the Chosun Dynasty. While he is the 3rd youngest of King Tejong, he was eventually designated as the 4th king due to his potential and high regard for public policy. His father needed someone who would work towards garnering a good working relationship with China, which is a quality he saw within Sejong.
While no one expected Sejong to be king, they would soon be surprised with the positive and high impact change he brought to the country.
It’s not always fun and games being at the top of the political chain, especially since there are bound to be enemies and those against your policy. However, he did have his wife beside him, even if he did have to fight for her when she became targeted as a result from her father’s scandal…

King Tejong was a person with a distinctly strong personality. He had a long lasting history of violence in order to become king, and when he did become king he did not tolerate anyone who was against his policies.
While he served as the 3rd king of the Chosun Dynasty, he may often be viewed as a weak king for not having influenced the country in any way and for the wrong-doings in which he dealt with many political situations.
He would later pass his kingship to his 3rd son, Sejong, as he saw great potential in Sejong and wanted to ensure Korea’s relationship with China would be strong.
