Role: Lee Young-Shin (이영신), Bom's Mother
|
|
Name:
Gong Hyo-Jin (공효진)
|
About:
Young-Shin was taught to be thankful in all circumstances. Even after becoming pregnant at a young age and raising Bom by herself, she remains optimistic. Her thankful attitude even allows her to withstand the emotional heartache of having a daughter with AIDS.
Being the loving person she is, Young-Shin sacrifices her own personal pleasures to care for her mentally disabled grandfather and Bom. When it comes to relationships, she can’t help but wonder, “Is there a man that can love me enough to care for my broken family?” All this changes when Ki-Suh enters her life.
Although Young-Shin is initially scared of Ki-Suh’s temper and hard-nosed attitude, she eventually sees past his exterior and discovers his gentler and loving side. Even more surprising, Ki-Suh seems genuinely interested in the well-being of her family! As Young-Shin begins falling in love with Ki-Suh, Suk-Hyun suddenly storms back into her life. To make matters worse, Suk-Hyun’s mother tells her to move out of the countryside, or hurry and get married!
As it turns out, there seems to be circulating rumors about Suk-Hyun’s relationship to Young-Shin and Bom…

Role: Min Ki-Suh (민기서), 4th Year Surgeon Resident
|
|
Name:
Jang Hyuk (장혁)
|
About:
Ki-Suh used to be a vibrant and passionate doctor who cared deeply for his patients. His attitude changed after his father (who is also a surgeon) became the face of public condemnation and disgraces his family name. After the incident, Ki-Suh’s father became a taxi driver and his relationship with Ki-Suh’s mother gradually deteriorated. Since then, Ki-Suh has adapted an apathetic attitude towards his patients and only performs surgery out of routine.
After Ki-Suh is unable to save his girlfriend from colon cancer, he reaches his breaking point and ends up beating up the “cheating” husband of one of the hospital patients! He gets sent to jail and ends up getting bailed out by his mother, who convinces him to help her on one of her development projects.
Ki-Suh gets paired up with Suk-Hyun on his mother’s project and ends up living in the countryside with Young-Shin and Bom. When he makes the realization that Bom is the child of his deceased girlfriend, he tries to redeem her mistakes through kindness.
As the drama progresses, Ki-Suh’s acts of kindness, turn into genuine love for Jin-Young and her family. He also begins to notice the vibrancy and passion he once had slowly returning. When Suk-Hyun tries to re-capture Jin-Young’s heart, Ki-Suh immediately intervenes. Does Ki-Suh have what it takes to love and care for Jin-Young’s troubled family?

Role: Lee Bom (이봄), 1st Grade Elementary Student
|
|
Name:
Suh Shin-Ae (서신애)
|
About:
Bom has been raised with the same thankful attitude that resides in Young-Shin. Although Bom is too young to realize the gravity of her medical situation, she accepts her way of life as the result of being a “special” kid chosen by God.
When Ki-Suh enters Bom’s life, Bom latches on to him. Having been raised in a fatherless household, Bom openly desires Ki-Suh to be her father. She isn’t even bothered by his rude attitude as she willingly and hungrily listens to everything Ki-Suh tells her!
As the drama progresses, the secret of Bom’s condition becomes public and she becomes an outcast. Overcome by fear, the villagers shun Bom until the only people she has in her life is Young-Shin, her grandfather, and Ki-Suh. It is also during this time that Bom realizes the severity of her medical condition…
Will Bom be able to withstand the harsh realities of life at such a young age?

Role: Chae Suk-Hyun (최석현), Seoul National University Architecture Graduate
|
|
Name:
Shin Sung-Rok (신성록)
|
About:
Suk-Hyun used to be nothing more than an average Joe. Through determination and hard work he graduates from the renown Seoul University with a degree in Architecture. Ironically, he was once rejected by Young-Shin’s family for his low stature. Now, he seems to have everything going for him: good looks, intelligence, respect, and even a beautiful fiancé!
Suk-Hyun’s stable life changes when he is forced to confront his past while working on a development project in his hometown. Although he tries to avoid thinking about Young-Shin (his first love from high school) his thoughts gradually sneak their way back to her! His mother senses the danger and tries to persuade his fiancé to hurry and marry Suk-Hyun.
Eventually Suk-Hyun comes to terms with his past and begins asking himself all the hard questions. The question that haunts him most is whether Bom may actually be his daughter. As he begins to seek the truth, his stable life crumbles apart and he is forced to re-evaluate his life’s direction. Even more disheartening is the fact that Ki-Suh seems to be winning over Young-Shin’s heart!
If Bom ends up being Suk-Hyun’s daughter, will it be too late for him to get back together with Young-Shin? And what will become of his fiancé and Ki-Suh?
