Synopsis

Min Ki-Suh (Jang Hyuk) is a talented surgeon in his fourth year of residency. When he learns that his girlfriend is suffering from colon cancer, he insists on performing surgery to remove it. During the surgery, he makes the shocking realization that the cancer is no longer curable!
Ki-Suh decides to spend his last days with his girlfriend by taking her to Hawaii. When she tries to ditch him at the airport, he follows after her and watches suspiciously as she buys a huge teddy bear. He follows her onto a ferry and then confronts her. She tells him that because of her mistake a long time ago, a child named Lee Bom (Suh Shin-Ae) is suffering from AIDS. She goes on to tell him that she would like to apologize to that family before she dies. Ironically, Bom and her mother, Lee Young-Shin (Gong Hyo-Jin), are both on the boat! As Young-Shin helps a sea-sick Ki-Suh throw up on the lower deck, Ki-Suh’s girlfriend spots Bom and hands her the teddy bear. When Ki-Suh and Young-Shin return to the upper-deck of the boat, they are both shocked to see Ki-Suh’s girlfriend grasping tightly to Bom’s body. Ki-Suh walks over to her and breaks down and cries as he realizes she has passed away.
A depressed Ki-Suh quits his job at the hospital and begins helping his mother with her real-estate projects. He gets paired up to work with Chae Suk-Hyun (Shin Sung-Rok) on a development project in Young-Shin’s hometown. As fate would have it, Ki-Suh ends up renting a room in Young-Shin’s house. When he finally makes the connection that Bom is the child with AIDS, he begins to act like her father figure.
As the drama progresses, Ki-Suh begins falling in love with Young-Shin. At the same time, he begins to unveil some startling connections between Suk-Hyun and Young-Shin. Although Suk-Hyun has a fiancé, he seems to have a strange sense of attachment to Young-Shin and Bom.
As the drama reaches a climax the secret connections between each of the characters are unveiled. What is Suk-Hyun’s relationship to Young-Shin and Bom? And will Young-Shin be able to accept Ki-Suh’s love when she realizes his deceased girlfriend is responsible for her daughter’s condition?
This drama will show what it means to be thankful and how a thankful attitude can change the course of your life.
